Vito died during his 97th birthday party after dancing to the Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive,” according to videos posted by baker Eden Malinoff and a confirmation from one of his friends on Instagram.

Malinoff shared a video on November 2 on her TikTok account, BakedSoCal, showing a cake she had made for her neighbor’s birthday. She said Vito wanted a “Halloween-birthday rager” in “true Vito fashion,” but described the evening as ending in a way the guests had not expected.

In the video, Malinoff said Vito was surrounded by people he loved as they celebrated his life, adding that she was grateful to have been part of the occasion. Viewers noticed that he appeared to dance to “Stayin’ Alive” in one clip and asked about it in the comments.

Malinoff posted a longer video on November 3, confirming that Vito had danced to the song before he died. She also said his friends believed he was ready and felt there was no better way for him to go.

A friend also confirmed Vito’s death on Instagram, saying he had medical issues whose severity they had not known about. The friend said Vito passed away with his favorite music playing.

Malinoff’s videos had received more than 10 million views since November 3, and clips were also being shared by other social media accounts.
