Apple is introducing Live Rewind, a feature that lets Apple Watch users view a text version of the previous 15 seconds of an in-person conversation. It is part of Audio Intelligence, which began rolling out to developers with the iOS 27.3 beta on November 3.

To use Live Rewind, users double-press the Digital Crown. They can then ask Siri about what was said or save the text for later; otherwise, it disappears after 30 seconds. The feature also plays a sound and displays an animation when activated to alert people nearby.

Audio Intelligence also includes Siri Recaps, which uses AI to summarize conversations and identify details such as dates and deadlines. Recaps can run automatically during chosen periods, such as work hours, and users can turn the feature off. Summaries can be saved to Apple Notes or Journal; unsaved summaries disappear within seven days.

Apple says Siri Recaps does not retain raw audio, identify speakers or create full conversation transcripts. Audio is processed using the Apple Watch, a paired iPhone and Apple’s Private Cloud Compute technology to produce summaries.

Audio Intelligence also includes features for identifying nearby music and recognizing sounds such as alarms, sirens and doorbells. The technology is limited to Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 paired with a compatible iPhone. It is currently available through the iOS 27.3 developer beta, with a public beta planned before wider availability.
