Team Liquid Alienware defeated Anyone’s Legend 2-0 at the Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage, eliminating the LPL’s top seed without a series win. The result keeps the LCS champions in contention and sets up a deciding match against LOS on 30 October.
Liquid took control of the first game, winning in 33 minutes and 13 seconds with a 16-5 kill lead. Top laner Morgan finished 7/1/6 on Camille. The second game lasted 47 minutes, with Yeon’s Xayah playing a key role in Liquid’s series-clinching win.
Anyone’s Legend had already lost best-of-one matches to Karmine Corp and Top Esports. Their departure marks the second consecutive Worlds in which the LPL’s first seed has failed to advance from the Swiss Stage; Bilibili Gaming was eliminated in Round 5 in 2025. According to Dot Esports, no Chinese top seed had previously exited in this way.
Liquid’s win also ended North America’s 13-series losing streak against the LPL. The region’s previous series victory over an LPL opponent came from Liquid, who beat Invictus Gaming in the MSI 2019 semi-finals.
The LCS’s first seed entered Worlds after beating LYON 3-1 in the 2026 Summer grand final on 4 October. Liquid’s Swiss Stage began with losses to CTBC Flying Oyster and Bilibili Gaming, leaving them close to elimination before the sweep of Anyone’s Legend.
Liquid now have a 1-2 series record and a 2-2 game record. Under the Swiss format, teams advance to the Knockout Stage after three match wins and are eliminated after three losses. Their next series against LOS is therefore a must-win.
