TikToker Caraline Catlett has drawn attention after saying an unnamed influencer told her she could not post their selfie online without paying. Catlett said she met the influencer in California and had been a fan of theirs before the encounter.
In a video, Catlett recalled the influencer telling her that people could not use their face to gain attention without payment. The influencer also reportedly said there was not enough room in the industry for everyone. Catlett described the person as having a few hundred thousand followers and said the exchange left her focused on building a larger following.
The video has received close to four million views. Some viewers urged Catlett to identify the influencer, while others said the reported demand was unusual. Catlett has refused to name the person, explaining that she does not want to direct online hate toward them.
Catlett, who has around 200,000 TikTok followers, said she had rarely encountered influencers in person before meeting this one. The influencer’s identity has not been publicly confirmed.
