Tony Hawk was asked to leave Pershing Square in Los Angeles while filming a video to mark the 25th anniversary of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3. The square is one of the real-world locations recreated in the 2001 game.

Hawk shared footage of the visit on Instagram on October 30, showing him skating through the plaza and recreating clips from the game. The video also switches between Hawk and his in-game counterpart as he imitates the character’s idle animation.

In the caption, Hawk said the group had been kicked out while filming. He later explained that a security guard approached them and asked them to leave, describing the encounter as anticlimactic. He did not say why they were told to go.

Hawk also revisited the Downtown Car Wash, another Los Angeles landmark that inspired a location in the game. Released on October 30, 2001, Pro Skater 3 was the series’ first entry to launch on PlayStation 2. The game was later included in the 2025 remake collection Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, developed by Iron Galaxy.
