Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive has responded to criticism from players after popular Twitch streamer TheBurntPeanut was given free access to the game’s downloadable content during a recent livestream.
TheBurntPeanut, an American gaming streamer known for his energetic commentary and animated peanut avatar, was playing Dead by Daylight when he discovered that all of the game’s DLC characters and perks had been unlocked for him. He joked that the situation reflected “streamer privileges.”
The official Dead by Daylight Twitch account responded in the stream’s comments: “WE CAN TAKE THE HEAT! THEY ARE YOURS TO KEEP,” according to screenshots shared on Reddit.
The decision drew a negative reaction from parts of the community. DbD Pulse, the game’s community page on X, said the access had been granted without the appropriate approvals. The page also acknowledged that the team should have investigated concerns raised during the stream rather than dismissing them.
“When concerns about this decision became apparent during the stream, we should have responded by looking into these concerns, not dismissing them,” the post said. It added that the fallout had continued across discussions within the Dead by Daylight community.
The team also criticized inflammatory language aimed at community members and described threats against employees as unacceptable. It apologized to players and said it had started reviewing its internal processes to help prevent a similar incident from happening again.
