Behaviour Interactive has removed the Dead by Daylight DLC content it gave Twitch streamer TheBurntPeanut, following criticism from players. In a statement published on November 3, the developer said the incident had damaged trust with the community and announced changes to how it works with creators.

The streamer received access to the game’s DLC characters and perks during a livestream on October 30. The decision prompted concerns among fans. Behaviour said the team had seen a large audience watching someone new to Dead by Daylight and wanted to welcome potential players, but the gift and the team’s participation in the stream happened without its usual discussions and checks.

The developer said it normally reviews a creator’s past content to assess whether they reflect the inclusive values it expects. It acknowledged that this review was not properly carried out in this case.

Behaviour also said its official account’s response after TheBurntPeanut offered to return the content — “WE CAN TAKE THE HEAT!” — worsened the situation. The company said the reply failed to account for the context and was inappropriate, adding that it affected the community and creators involved in the discussion.

The gifted content has been removed. Behaviour is also rewriting its guidelines for creator interactions, including who can approve decisions of this kind. The revisions will cover how creators are assessed, approval processes for giving away content or in-game currency, staff training and communication standards.

The company said it is taking internal action regarding the employees involved but would not provide details because the matter is confidential. Behaviour acknowledged that rebuilding trust would take time and said it was committed to the work required.
